Zanzoo Retreat, originally built and farmed in the 1870?s, is an historic two storey ?Old Queenslander? which is perfectly located very near the departure points for the Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail, and is also within easy driving distance of Kuranda, the Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation and the Atherton Tablelands.
This beautifully restored bed and breakfast has been tastefully decorated and is a popular and sought after B&B and conference venue. The homestead is surrounded by rainforest covered mountain ranges and has the cool, clear waters of the rainforest fringed Freshwater Creek flowing through the length of the property year round.

The House
This magnificent two storey original ?Queenslander? bed and breakfast is one of the oldest surviving homes in Cairns, and offers a choice of spacious air conditioned rooms with beautiful views of Freshwater Creek and the property's lush tropical gardens.
Zanzoo offers six rooms, three Deluxe Ensuite Rooms upstairs with ensuites and sitting areas with day beds, and three Queen Rooms downstairs with private patios and sharing modern bathroom facilities.
The house has two lounges with modern furnishings - the main lounge room upstairs has a dining area while a smaller reading room is located downstairs. A modern kitchen is available for guests and an enormous balcony upstairs plays host to a generous tropical breakfast in the mornings.
Queen Rooms
The Queen Rooms are air conditioned and open onto the pool area and the rainforest fringed creek. Each has a private patio with outdoor table and chairs, separate access bathrooms on the same level, and the use of fridges and a fully equipped kitchen. Other facilities and features include queen size beds, an LCD TV, guest bathrobes, hair dryers and hand made soaps. Queen Rooms are $115 per night.
Deluxe Ensuite Rooms
These air-conditioned high-ceiling rooms have a queen bed or a king bed, a private en-suite bathroom, and a private verandah day area overlooking the gardens with a day bed, timber table and chairs. Other facilities and features include an LCD TV, guest bathrobes, hair dryers, hand made soaps, and the use of fridges and a fully equipped kitchen. Deluxe En-suite Rooms are $150 per night.
Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the building.
Your hosts Marc, Sharon and our 3 children Georgia, Alexandra and Matthew, as well as our pets Stella the dog and Brian the cat, all live in Zanzoo Cottage which is on the same property and only a short distance (60 metres) from your accommodation. This ensures your privacy at all times, but not at the expense of service. We are available and at your service at all times.
