Quite, beautiful and very tropical. I even saw a cassowary on the road in a few times. Great beaches. Great backpacker accommodation. If you head north, you must go to mission Beach. If it wasn\'t so humid in summer I could live there.

A quiet tropical 8km long beach backed by coconut palms and heavy rainforest meant an ideal place to prop for a few days. You can do a day trip to Dunk Island- further inland try whitewater rafting on the Tully river- that will get you going!!!

Mission Beach is a relaxing destination between Cairns and Townsville. Just watch out for the Cassowary Bird.

Regular visitor to Mission Beach as it\'s truly beautiful. Quiet with great views. Still relatively unspoilt. A must for North Queensland travellers.

The further north you go, the coarser and the browner the sand on the beaches get. Mission Beach is nice enough but not as nice if you\'d already been further south.

Love Mission Beach. It\'s great. You sit on the beach and look at Dunk Island. It is a little thriving hub of tourists. There is a ferry to Dunk Island. As all Northern Queensland beaches are, in the Box Jelly Fish season which is in the summer months you are only able to swim in the ocean within enclosed nets. The country side is gorgeous, with Banana plantations and sugar cane feilds. Up the road from Mission Beach at a place called Bingil Bay you can see Turtles coming to shore to lay their eggs. This is exciting. It is a good little spot.
